Advanced Open Water Diver Course (5 dives)

All dives count as dive one of the corresponding specialty.

Why Advanced Open Water Diver? - After your five dives, you'll be more experienced, feel more comfortable in the water and simply enjoy diving more because you better understand the underwater environment.  All five dives may be counted as the first dive of the corresponding specialty.

What you need to start: You must be at least 12 years old and certified as an Open Water Diver or have an equivalent rating. "Equivalency" is defined as proof of an entry-level scuba certification with a minimum of four open water training dives.

What you will do You will do a total of 5 dives under the supervision of an instructor.  You have to do the Deep Dive (a dive deeper than 60 feet) and the Underwater Navigation Dive because those dives are required for the Advanced Open Water Diver Certification.  You get to choose the remaining 3 dives (for a total of 5 dives).  You will read the appropriate chapter out of the Adventures in Diving Manual (included in course price) and complete the knowledge review located at the end of the chapter for each dive that you do.    You will get to use your new knowledge for each type of dive on the dive done under the supervision of an instructor.  This certification includes five Adventure Dives, including the Deep Adventure Dive, the Underwater Navigator Adventure Dive and three of the following (listed are dives we conduct and not all dives are available at all dive sites):

Altitude Diver Dry Suit Diver Search and Recovery Diver AWARE Fish Identification
Boat Diver Multilevel Diver Underwater Naturalist Wreck Diver
Drift Diver Night Diver Underwater Photographer
Deep Diver Peak Performance Buoyancy Underwater Navigator

Materials Required:  Adventures in Diving Crew Pak (includes manual, work slate and log book pages).  Recommended:  Video/DVD ($24.80).

Cost:   $185 - Price includes:  The Adventures in Diving Manual, carrier slate, ,  picture for certification card, certification card, classroom/pool session (if requested) and 5 open water dives under our supervision (does not include air fills, park entry fees, equipment rental, etc.).   Add $30 for Crew Pak (manual, carrier slate, nav-finder and log book pages).   Add $45 for Crew Pak with CD-ROM instead of Manual; Recommended:  Video/DVD ($25.48).

How to get started:  Contact us at 214-505-0713 or click here to email us.    You can come pick up the materials or we can have them delivered to your home or office.

Independent Study:   In the Adventures in Diving Manual, read the chapters for each of the 5 dives you will be doing (must include the Deep Dive and the Underwater Navigation Dive) and complete the knowledge reviews located at the end of each chapter.  You will need to turn in the completed knowledge reviews prior to certification.

Next Scheduled Class:  Most dives can be done on any lake weekend although not all dives are available at all locations.  For example, the deep dive is not available at Athens Scuba Park but is available at Lake Travis and on any dive trip.   Click here for our calendar.
