Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for Aquatics (swimming
pools)
Why AED for Aquatics: This course represents entry-level training designed to educate the general diving (and qualified non-diving) public to better recognize the warning signs of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and administer first aid using Basic Life Support techniques and Automated External Defibrillators
(AEDs) while activating the local emergency medical services, (EMS) and/or arranging for evacuation to the nearest appropriate medical facility.
What you need to start: Recommended:
currently certified in CPR.
This course does not provide training for
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or water rescue. The
training exercises of this course presuppose that the
ill or injured person is already out of the water.

What you will learn: At the end of
this program, Automated External Defibrillators
(AEDs) for Aquatic Emergencies course, participants will
be able to: Recognize the warning signs of sudden
cardiac arrest; Provide Basic Life Support while setting
up the
automated external defibrillator; Provide basic life
support with an AED and Care for and maintain an AED.
What you will do: Come to class. You will
(a) watch a short
video, (b) complete the knowledge review locate din the
student manual, (c) participate in a skills practice by getting hands
on experience with an AED trainer and and (d) take a 20-question
quiz.
Cost of course with materials: $65.00
- The all-inclusive price includes the AED for Aquatics
Handbook, certification card and video rental.
