Deposit:  Need Deposit of $75 for the Rescue Diver course.

How to Get Started:  Call us at 214-505-0713 or click here to email us to get the Rescue Diver Crew Pak (contains manual, log book pages, slate and certificate suitable for framing) and Rescue Diver DVD and to sign up for the class.  We can have your materials or we can have delivered to your home or office.

What you need to start:  To receive the Rescue Diver Certification, you must be at least 12 years old prior to start date of class, certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from a training organization, and successful completion of a sanctioned CPR/First program within the past 24 months.   The CPR/First Aid course with Care for Children that we offer meet these requirements Click here for the CPR + First Aid course offered through Emergency First Response.  Divers that are 12 years old get the Junior Rescue Diver certification.  You can enroll in the Rescue Diver Course as a certified Open Water Diver (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization) and participate in the Rescue Diver knowledge development and rescue training sessions, in confined water only, while working on your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

What will you learn:     Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the classroom, pool and the four open water sessions, you'll cover:   Self-rescue and diver stress; AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems; dive first aid; swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques; emergency management and equipment; panicked diver response; underwater problems; missing diver procedures; surfacing the unconscious diver; in-water rescue breathing protocols; egress (exits); first aid procedures for pressure related accidents; and dive accident scenarios.

What you will do.  You need to be CPR/First Aid certified prior to Knowledge Development Number Two.   You need to read the whole book, complete the knowledge reviews located at the end of each chapter and watch the entire video prior to first class meeting.  In the classroom, we will go over the knowledge reviews located at the end of each of the 5 chapters; students will also prepare an emergency assistance plan for the location where the rescue scenarios will be conducted; and a 50 question final exam will be administered.  In the pool, we will introduce 10 rescue exercises during the training sessions and various techniques to students and students get to practice the different techniques.  During the practice sessions, students will discover which techniques work better for them in different situations.  The Rescue Diver Course philosophy is that there is no single "right" way to perform a rescue, but rather many workable options.  The confined water pool sessions give students the opportunity to try different options.  At the lake, if all 10 of the rescue exercises are completed in the confined water pool sessions, then the 4 rescue scenarios may be completed in one day at the lake.  The scenarios are realistic giving students the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom and in the pool in a realistic context, providing additional learning.   The end result is a rewarding and fun experience building confidence.

Package Deal:  Rescue Diver and CPR/First Aid Class:  Get the Rescue Diver and the CPR/First Class for $360  Click here for information on our Rescue Diver Program.    Deposit for Packaged Deal:  $150.  Get the First Aid for Marine Life Injuries Specialty for an additional $50.00.

Equipment:  Course fees do not cover equipment rental.

How long does it take?  Approximately 25 hours.  This includes the independent study time.  If you have read the entire book, completed the knowledge reviews located at the end of each chapter and watched the entire video prior to coming to class, the  classroom session is approximately 2 to 3 hours, the pool session is 2 to 3 hours and one day at the lake for the 4 open water scenarios.  In addition, prior to Knowledge Development Number 2, the student must be currently certified in CPR and First Aid.   However, the course is performance based which means that we must complete one section before moving the next.  If needed, we will schedule additional class/pool sessions (additional costs may apply).

Want to do the classroom and pool sessions in your home and pool?  We will come to your home for the classroom sessions and pool sessions for class price plus an additional $50 per session.  Need water that is too deep to stand for the skills.  For most people, a pool that is at least 6 feet deep will work.
