Dry Suit Diver Specialty (a 2 dive
specialty):
Counts toward the
Master Scuba Diver
Certification
What do you need to start?
Must be at least 12
years old and certified as a Junior Open Water
Diver or an Open Water Diver or have a qualifying
certification from another training organization to take
the course.
Why take the Dry Suit Diver Specialty?
If you want to see the spectacular and prolific aquatic life
often found in colder water climates you'll need to stay warm and that means a
dry suit. But, you want to be trained in proper techniques, this is where
Dry Suit Diver Specialty course comes in.
What you will do: Read the Dry Suit
Specialty Manual to cover the background knowledge
related to dry suit diving. Then you will get into
the pool for a confined water dive to put the theory
into practice. Once you have mastered the
techniques in confined water, you will do two dives
under instructor supervision where you will apply that
knowledge, including
including dive planning,
organization, techniques, problems and buoyancy control.
Cost: - $120.00 which includes a pool session, the
Dry Suit Specialty Manual, a picture for the
certification card, the certification card and two dives

Materials needed: Dry Suit Specialty
Manual (covered in course price) and a dry suit. We can assist you in
dry suit rental if you do not own a dry suit.

Class Dates: Dives can be done any lake weekend. You
will need a pool session prior to going to the lake. Please
contact us to schedule your pool session.

Class assignment: You will need to read the Dry Suit Specialty manual, complete the knowledge reviews
and watch the entire video.
You will need to turn in the knowledge reviews
prior to certification.
You will learn about:

The planning, organization, procedures,
techniques, problems and hazards of dry suit diving

Proper Procedures for buoyancy control
-
Ascent and descent technique training
-
Routine, user-level, preventative maintenance and
performance checks on dry suits.
Information about the dives:
Dive One:
-
Don and Doff a dry suit with the aid of another
diver
-
Purge excess air form suit
-
Perform predive safety check. Check dry suit
valves, seals, zipper, potential leaks
-
Demonstrate the procedure for conducting a
buoyancy check while wearing a dry suit
-
Perform a controlled descent, avoiding suit
squeeze
-
Neutral buoyancy - fin pivot for one minute
-
Neutral buoyancy - hovering for one minute
-
Dry suit dive for fun and experience
-
At the surface, achieve comfortable positive
buoyancy using BCD
-
Remove/replace both the scuba unit and weight
system at surface
Dive Two:
-
Don and Doff a dry suit with the aid of another
diver
-
Purge excess air form suit
-
Perform predive safety check. Check dry suit
valves, seals, zipper, potential leaks
-
Demonstrate the procedure for conducting a
buoyancy check while wearing a dry suit
-
Perform a controlled descent, avoiding suit
squeeze
-
Disconnect/reconnect low-pressure hose from dry
suit inflator valve while underwater wearing gloves.

Dry two dive for fun and experience
