| Bonaire, May 9 to 16, 2008 | |
| Bonaire - Awesome! Just awesome! We stayed at the Plaza Royal Resort and dove with Toucan Diving. The resort was diver and non-diver friendly. The rooms were big, the food was good and the staff friendly. We walked into town for dinner in the evenings. Our group totaled 16. Twelve of which dove on the boat, 2 of which did some shore diving and 2 were women that do not dive but have gone on many dive trips with us. Our dive group on most days was 11 but Lisa Parker joined us for one day of diving. Nitrox was available at no extra cost for each dive. Toucan Diving asked that we do an orientation prior to beginning our week of diving. Very interesting and informational. We saw frog fish almost every dive. Sherman, our divemaster for the week, did his best to point them out to us. There are a few pictures of the ones we saw pictured to the right. I took the pictures. Since they do not move very much, I was able to photograph them. I think the yellow one was smiling at me. We saw eels on most every dive as well. We saw a sharp tailed eel, spotted moray eels and giant green moray eels. We saw 4 of the giant green moray eels on one dive. There were also schools of fish everywhere. The coral and sponges on the reefs were in good shape. Water temperature was about 82 degrees. No current to speak of on most dives and a mild current on others. We did 4 night dives. Two of the were off shore in front of the hotel. We also did a night shore dive. We surfaced and got to see a ring around the moon. One of the best night dives I have done in a while was under the City Pier. Max depth was 24 feet. You have to a local dive leader with you. The dive leader makes a reservation to take a group on the dive. Each of the pillars supporting the pier was covered in coral from top to bottom. The colors were amazing. We saw eels, a slippery lobster, shrimp, and spotted drum. We also saw turtles and spotted drum both adult and juvenile. Trumpet fish were every where! Bonaire is one of the best dive destinations I have experienced.

| Trash Pick-Up at White Rock Lake, June 14, 2008 | |
| On June 14, 2008, several
people, both divers and non-divers met together to participate in the Second
Saturday Spruce-Up at White Rock Lake. We registered this event with
Project Aware.
Our group was assigned to help clean up the Tree Grove Memorial. We picked up trash, pulled weeds and generally assisted in sprucing up the area for the grand opening of the memorial. We were told that usually, volunteers are assigned an area of the lake to pick up trash. We were given trash bags and utensils to help us in collecting the trash. We worked for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours and then met for burgers, chips, snacks and drinks at Sherry's house where we enjoyed the pool. The next trash clean-up organized by Diving with Sherry will be in September.
